Addie was our first standard poodle and we just wanted her as a pet, however after having her for awhile we wanted another one so we decided to breed her. We were hoping to get a cream male from her. On July 22, 1998 she gave birth to nine puppies and three of them were cream males. We kept one and named him "Peyton." We had so many people that wanted one of her puppies that we decided to breed her again the following year and then have her spay. Her second litter was ten pups born on September 8, 1999. After that litter Sandy and I decided we want to go into breeding and we needed to start building a line for ourselves. So next litter was planned to keep a black female, that litter of nine was born February 15, 2001. The black female we kept was named "Princess."
On March 29, 2001 we purchased a cream male puppy, to be used as stud when he got older. We named him "Prince."
In December of 2001 we had Addie bred again. We were hoping to get a cream female (name Dutchess) from this litter. Wanting a cream female was going against all odds because all of Addie's cream puppies in past litters were all males. When we went to pick her up to bring her home, we also came home with an apricot adult female. Her name was "GiGi."
February 20, 2002 was Addie's due date and she was huge! She had her fist pup at 10:30 p.m. that night and had another one before midnight. By 12:30 a.m. she had two more. She went five hours and no more pups, but was still big. I called our vet at 5:30 a.m. and told him what was going on. He didn't like the sounds of that. He said it looked like we were headed for a C-section and what ever pups were still in her would be dead by now. Got Addie to the vet, he checked her over and said he thought we was done with her labor plus he couldn't feel anymore pups in her. But he wanted to do a x-ray on her to be sure. The x-ray showed one remaining pup way up high in her. He said he thought he could induce her labor to get her to pass that pup but it would be born dead. So that what he did, she had a black female born...... and it was alive and just fine. The vet checked her out and said she was just fine. On the way home I was a little depressed that I didn't get my cream female I had a cream male but no cream female. The next morning I got up and got Addie outside to go to the bathroom and cleaned up the whelping box and then got Addie's food ready for her. Then I was off to get ready for work myself. As I was heading out the door I took one last glance into the whelping box and to my surprise there was another cream puppy. I couldn't get my hand on it fast enough to see if it was a female. It was! I couldn't stop laughing with excitement. She was born 23 hours after that last pup and never showed up on the x-ray. Well name Dutchess was just not fitting for her.... I named her "Miracle" her full name is "Addies Miracle Joy Angel." This was Addie's fourth litter and in those four litters she had 34 pups. So we retired her and had her spay.
Gigi gave birth to a litter of 7 on June 8, 2002, and just like we had planned to keep a 1apricot female out only 2 females in the litter to use for our breeding we kept one and named her Amber. After the litter we had Gigi spay. Little did we know that Amber's life would be cut so short of only nine months of life by "GME" to read more go to:
Deeply sadden by her lost and the fact that we lost our line of apricots that we had planned out and even tied this litter in with Addie's bloodline, by using one of Addie's son's to breed Gigi, all came to a sudden halt!
This chapter in our lives was so sad until the day the storylines changed. In November of 2003 the couple that had the only other female in the litter (Ginger) asked us if we would like to purchase her back. After some thought we decided to have Ginger join us once again into our home as ours.
Needing a male of the right color to breed Ginger we purchased a red male puppy (Blaze) from a breeder in Oklahoma in December 2003.
Adding a brown female puppy (Fannie May) in May of 2005 from the same kennel.
Jasper black male puppy joined our family in August 2005
All 8 of our standarrd poodles that we have now live in our home with us and all puppies are born and raised in our home.
